North Carolina A&T players and coaches receive recognition

Broadway-Trophy-300x200The recognition has really poured in for North Carolina A&T, which captured the inaugural Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl with a 41-34 victory over Alcorn State on ABC-TV to win the HBCU National Championship. The American Radio Networks recently announced the members of the 2005 SBN Black College All-American Team.

NC A&T had three players selected to the team. Running back Tarik Cohen, offensive lineman Brandon parker and defensive back Tony McRae were chosen to the team. The Aggies won the SBN/Jake Gaither National Black College Football Championship.

Cohen, who had a spectacular performance against Alcorn State in the Celebration Bowl, rushing for 295 yards and scoring three touchdowns was named the SBN/Doug Williams Offensive Player of the Year. He was the Offensive Player of the Year in the MEAC as well. Cohen gained 1,543 yards and scored 15 touchdowns.

Rod Broadway, Aggies head coach, was named the SBN/Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year. Broadway guided NCA&T to a share of the MEAC championship finishing with a 10-2 overall and a 7-1 conference record. He is the first coach to win SBN Black College National Championships at three different schools including Grambling State (2008) and North Carolina Central (2006).
